Ham and Cheese Quiche
Ingredients (6 portions):
- 1 ready rolled short crust pastry
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 100g smoked bacon, cut into small pieces
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 medium eggs
- 250g double cream
- 200g ham, cut into cubes
- 150 g mozzarella, grated
- Nutmeg
- Salt & Black Pepper
- 2 tbsp chives, chopped finely
Follow the steps
- Start preparing the pastry base. You should use a metal tin with a loose bottom. I always butter and flour the thin so that easily comes out after baking. Turn on the oven.
- Heat the olive oil in a large (non-stick) pan and cook the bacon. After the bacon is cooked add in the chopped onions. Leave to cool down.
- In a bowl beat the eggs, than add the double cream, the ham and cheese.
- Season to your taste with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
- Finally it’s time for the chives.
- Pour this mixture into your prepared pastry base.
- Put the tart in the preheated oven.
- It should take about 40 to 45 minutes in the oven. The colour should be golden brown.
